Another National Scholastic win!

St. Michael-Albertville high school art department is proud to announce that student Morgan Smith (grade 12) received top honors in the National Scholastic Art and Writing contest! Morgan won a Gold Medal and an American Visions Medal for Photography! The title of her piece is called Soulful Moments.

Also, Cobin Szymanski Cobin (grade 10) won a  Silver Medal for a Critical Essay.

About the Medals:

The American Voices & Visions Medals, the highest regional honors, are given to one writer and one artist from each region.

Five works of writing and five works of art from each region are selected by local judges as American Voices & Visions nominees, who are then celebrated in local exhibitions and ceremonies. From the pool of nominees, a panel of jurors in New York City selects one writer and one artist from each region to receive an American Voices Medal or an American Visions Medal, a non-financial highest regional honor. These Medalists are celebrated during National Events and at the National Exhibition in New York City.

This remarkable achievement with nearly 340,000 works of art and writing were submitted to the 2019 Scholastic Awards. Our student’s work was selected by some of the foremost leaders in the visual and literary arts for excellence in originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. Receiving a National Medal places your student(s) within the top 1% of all submissions!
